I am originally from Manchester where I studied a BSc in Computer Science. I then furthered my education by completing my PGCE in ICT at the University of Bradford.

I started teaching in Manchester where I carried out duties as Subject Co-ordinator of Computer Science. I then moved to Burnley where I was Head of Computing and Leader of STEM.

I have a keen interest in sports, travelling and socialising. I am a regular participant in sports such as football and table tennis. I also like to participate in and organise various charity events.

I am married with one child, my wife works as a care worker.

I continue to aim to excel in student achievement and progress while providing an engaging, challenging and creative curriculum for Computer Science with real-life links to STEM. I also like to help build independent learners that show resilience at all times and make learning fun.

I grew up in Derbyshire in the UK and completed my Diploma of Special Needs and Bachelor of Education Honours Degree in Manchester. I have a wealth of experience, having taught in a range of schools for over 30 years, including within an international setting in the UAE.

I began teaching in Cheshire and gained experience of all the different age ranges in primary. As I developed my understanding and delivery of what Outstanding, effective teaching looks like, I also began supporting, coaching and mentoring teaching staff to help improve the outcomes of students. This has been an area which I have continued to focus on throughout my career. I was the youngest Primary English Lead in my local area and then became a year lead and a Phase lead and a member of the Senior Leadership Team with responsibility for teaching and learning, behaviour and student well being.

My main interests are reading, playing badminton and keeping fit and travelling to some of the beautiful places the world has to offer. I have been lucky enough to explore Malaysia and different parts of America and had lots of short breaks throughout the UK. I am aiming to visit the seven Wonders of the World and feel like Qatar is the perfect base to be able to do this.

My goal is to make a difference. I aim to ensure that our children have exciting learning opportunities within a caring, stimulating and empowering environment. I am committed to helping individuals achieve their full potential and feel proud of their accomplishments both academically and holistically. I aim to support teachers to make learning fun and memorable.

I was born in Lincoln in the UK and studied Ancient and Modern History at Queen’s University in Belfast completing my Masters in International Relations at the University of Nottingham. I then moved to Leeds to complete my PGCE.

I have worked as a teacher for over fifteen years and worked as the Head of History and Politics at a large secondary school in Lincoln.

My husband and two daughters live with me in Qatar.

My main interests are music, hiking and travel. My husband and I have travelled by train (and boat) to places such as St. Petersburg, Istanbul and Marrakesh. We cannot wait to explore a new part of the world with our family. I have previously played in the Lincoln Symphony Orchestra and am looking forward to being able to contribute to any extracurricular groups at Oryx and brush up on my skills.

My main aim at Oryx International School is to provide students with an outstanding educational experience whereby they are inspired to explore and understand the world around them. History is such an important subject as it allows students to become global citizens and to develop critical thinking skills. This gives them an excellent foundation to become confident and empathetic individuals.

I graduated as a Teacher of Physical Education in 2008 and worked as Principal Teacher of PE until 2020. Previous to being a teacher, I played Football in America & Australia. I also worked at Celtic FC as an Academy coach for 15 years and had the pleasure of seeing some of the young players in the Academy become top professional players. I was fortunate to work under some incredible managers who all shared the common themes of being consistent, taking responsibility, developing your resilience and working hard...these are life skills that are fundamental to making progress and fulfilling your potential - aim to add VALUE & make an IMPACT.

I am extremely excited and privileged about my role as Assistant Principal at Oryx International school. The school is fantastic and my remit of ASAs and the House system will provide pupils with a rich experience outside of the classroom as well as having additional responsibilities within the school. I cannot wait to get started!!

I studied a Masters of Arts in Education at The University of Aberdeen, not far from my hometown in Scotland. I have extensive experience teaching across Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2.

I began teaching at Oryx International in 2018, where I progressed into Middle Leadership, as the Year Group Leader for Years 3 and 5, and then became the Phase Leader for Years 2-4. Having been at Oryx since the opening of the new campus, I feel like an integral part of the Oryx community and feel privileged to teach students from such diverse countries and cultures.

Sustainability is a passion of mine that I put into practice in my own life. I will continue to lead the Eco-Warriors (whole school) to achieve the Eco School Award this year. I thrive to inspire and educate children on how to look after our planet, by shaping twenty-first-century skills, competencies and mindsets in today's and the future's global citizens.

Promoting and modelling our school values here at Oryx is of great importance. As a Black Belt in Tae Kwon-Do, I understand how values can build and develop personalities, attitudes and overall character. The tenets of Tae Kwon-Do are instilled within me to this day and I believe that our values, mission and vision will have the same impact on our students.

Before I left Scotland, I was a TKD instructor, I like to stay active and still enjoy training as a hobby.

As a proud revert to Islam, my free time is spent studying the Quran and I'm also learning spoken Arabic.

I have been teaching for over 25 years now and have taught a variety of subjects within the Humanities faculty; my main subject being History, which I am very passionate about. I am originally from Yorkshire but have spent most of my life in Birmingham and graduated from the University of Birmingham with an honour’s degree and a PGCE. I also studied for a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership and Innovation, at the University of Warwick.

Most of my teaching experience in the UK was in two very different comprehensive schools in Birmingham, until I decided to take the leap and move abroad. I have now worked in the Middle East for ten years. I started my international teaching career in Qatar, moved to Dubai for a year but preferred Qatar and decided to move back here; this is now my second home.

I enjoy the cultural aspect of living in Qatar and find that this is a great place to travel from. I love visiting over countries and learning about their customs and traditions and am slowly making my way around the globe.

My aim at Oryx is to continue the excellent work that has already been established and to build on the opportunities we give our students. They are at a crucial time of their education as they think about their future careers and my aim is to ensure they have the right tools to help them make the best choice they can. I value student wellbeing and have started building this into the fabric of our Sixth Form. As we all know this can be a very stressful period and I want to make the next chapter of our students journey as smooth as possible.
