SEN Primary Teacher

I was born in Cork and grew up in Youghal, East Cork in Ireland. I studied a Bachelor of Art in Music and History in Waterford Institute of Technology and gained my Post Graduate Diploma in Education from the National University of Maynooth in Kildare. I have a Post Graduate Diploma in Special Education from Edith Cowan University in Perth and completed a Graduate Certificate in Leadership through Monash University Melbourne.

I started my teaching career in Wicklow, then spent the last 10 years in Melbourne Australia teaching and supporting children with significant learning needs. I took on roles of Professional Team Leader in Primary in addition to Leading Teacher for Digital Technology and progressed to the position of Learning Specialist in Curriculum and Inclusion, I have held this position for over four years.

I have led and presented research studies into the use of Assistive Technology to support, enhance and promote student learning. One such study has led to the production of online resources that are used in Special Settings around the world.

My main interests are music, theatre, sports, travel and food from different cultures. My husband, daughter and two cats will be joining me in Qatar.

I am excited about joining a new school community. My aim at Oryx is to provide a safe, enjoyable and stimulating learning environment for all students, so I can provide exceptional support for children with additional needs.
