Charlie Brame

Year 1 Teacher

Born in London, I grew up in the South of England (predominantly the Hampshire area). I studied History at the University of Winchester, graduating in 2014. I then worked as a teaching assistant in a Year 1 class for a year before studying for a PGCE at the University of Chichester - achieving QTS in 2016.

Since qualifying as a teacher, I have taught in a private group of schools in Sydney, Australia where I helped write the MET Curriculum (largely based on the Board of Studies for New South Wales), which is now being used on a national level in Australia. After leaving Sydney, I took up a position at an international school in Doha, where I was employed initially as an English expert for Years 4-6 before moving to Year 3 as a class teacher. Since starting at Oryx in 2019, I have worked in Years 1 and 2 and specialise in the teaching of phonics and applying real-world events into everyday teaching. In addition to the learning, my first priority for my students is their safety and well-being. I like to provide stimulating and engaging learning in a safe, comforting and most importantly FUN environment.

I am living in Qatar with my wife Rebecca whom I met shortly after arriving in Qatar in 2017 and married in the summer of 2019 and in February 2022, our family is set to grow by one. My wife and I share a passion for travel, adventure and food! I also have a love for several sports. As a former athlete, I enjoy track and field events as well as having a big interest in football (Leyton Orient fan) and Rugby (Exeter Chiefs fan).
