David Ramsay

Year 6 Teacher

I was born and grew up in London, and spent five years living in Buckinghamshire in the South East of England. I studied Linguistics at Nottingham Trent University which included the invaluable experience of spending a year abroad studying in Spain. I completed my PGCE at South Bank University in London.

I began my teaching career in North West London before moving to Barcelona and teaching in a British school there for three years. I then returned to England and taught for five years, as Upper Key Stage 2 lead, predominantly teaching in Year 6 as well as leading maths across the school. Finally, I moved to Doha to join Oryx School in 2021.

I come from a big family and am one of four siblings. Most of my extended family are based in the UK, but even though some are scattered around in different parts of the world, we are all very close and try to see each other as much as possible.

My main interests are music, sports, drama and travel. I love being outdoors whether it be hiking up mountains or cycling across the country. I also love socialising with family and friends.

It is my aim to make a positive contribution to the already outstanding education offered at Oryx school. I plan to make learning a fun and engaging experience for the children as well as encourage them to reach their full potential.
