I was born in Denmark but grew up in Birmingham, England. I studied for an English and Linguistics degree in Birmingham, which is where I qualified as a teacher through the Teach First programme.
I started my teaching career as a graduate coach mentoring Year 11 students through their exams. I then moved on to teaching English at a large multicultural academy in Birmingham, as part of my Teach First teacher training programme. In my three years there, I held the role of Deputy KS4 coordinator, specifically supporting students through the GCSE Literature curriculum.
I come from a large family, seven siblings including myself, and subsequently never experienced a dull moment growing up. I will be coming out to Doha on my own, but I am sure I will not be short of family visitors.
My hobbies and interests include travelling, swimming, reading, basketball to name but a few.
My goal at Oryx school is to take my students on an enriching journey through the world of literature, absorbing the powerful learning opportunities and knowledge that this brings.
