Bio:
This is my 11th year in teaching, and I am Scottish and originally from Glasgow. I started my career in Scotland, where I was the sole Geography teacher in a school of over 1,000 students.
It definitely came with challenges, but it taught me how important it is to keep lessons varied so students stay motivated and engaged.I previously taught in Qatar from 2016 to 2020, before moving to Spain, where I became Head of the Humanities Department. After a short period teaching in Kuwait, I joined Oryx International School in August 2025.
I’ve been lucky enough to visit over 50 countries, including places like the Amazon rainforest, and I try to bring these experiences into my lessons whenever I can. What I love most about Geography is the excitement it creates by bringing real life into the classroom. I’m a big believer that students learn best when they’re having fun, nobody enjoys anything repetitive, so for me, the key is challenging students every day through a range of different tasks.
