I was born and raised in Los Angeles, California where the beauty of the mountains, beaches, sand and sun all converge and where I graduated from California State University, Los Angeles. In 2004, I moved to Houston, Texas where I woefully, yet quickly, realised I how little knowledge I had of rain or rain gear.
I began my teaching career with Houston Independent School District in 2005. Over the course of my career, I have taught both primary and secondary students, provided instructional coaching and mentoring, maintained a global education focus, and was named English as a Second Language Teacher of the Year.
My hobbies include spending time with family and friends, listening to music, discovering new musical artists, exploring new places, camping, feeling sand between my toes, learning new things, cooking, and maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
I am the proud parent of the best son ever, Kyle, who has already completed the Program for Excellence in Selling (PES), an exclusive undergraduate sales program at the University of Houston and is currently completing his final year as a Corporate Communication major. He is also the president of his fraternity, Sigma Alpha Epsilon.
Being a part of Oryx provides me with the wonderful opportunity to create a child-centred, world-minded classroom where I can develop global citizens who adopt a love of reading, and an understanding that their knowledge about the world and the choices that they make in the world can affect themselves and others worldwide.
