Assistant Principal - Head of 6th Form, Curriculum, Data

I have been teaching for over 25 years now and have taught a variety of subjects within the Humanities faculty; my main subject being History, which I am very passionate about. I am originally from Yorkshire but have spent most of my life in Birmingham and graduated from the University of Birmingham with an honour’s degree and a PGCE. I also studied for a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership and Innovation, at the University of Warwick.

Most of my teaching experience in the UK was in two very different comprehensive schools in Birmingham, until I decided to take the leap and move abroad. I have now worked in the Middle East for ten years. I started my international teaching career in Qatar, moved to Dubai for a year but preferred Qatar and decided to move back here; this is now my second home.

I enjoy the cultural aspect of living in Qatar and find that this is a great place to travel from. I love visiting over countries and learning about their customs and traditions and am slowly making my way around the globe.

My aim at Oryx is to continue the excellent work that has already been established and to build on the opportunities we give our students. They are at a crucial time of their education as they think about their future careers and my aim is to ensure they have the right tools to help them make the best choice they can. I value student wellbeing and have started building this into the fabric of our Sixth Form. As we all know this can be a very stressful period and I want to make the next chapter of our students journey as smooth as possible.
