Sumitra Veerakumarasivam

Teaching Assistant

I was born and I grew up in a small town called Kuantan on the east coast of Malaysia, nestled in a lush green valley right by the beach of the South China Sea. During my childhood I studied music achieving my Grade 7 in practical piano from the Royal School of Music London, UK. I obtained my Diploma in Executive Secretaryship from the Raffles Education Group (UK) and an International Diploma in Administrative Management (IAM in UK) .

After completing my studies, I worked as a Personal Secretary to the Regional Manager of the Public Bank of Malaysia for the East Coast Peninsular, Malaysia for 14 years. I then decided to become a teacher like my mother and grandfather and taught kindergarten in Kuala Lumpur. I worked for two years in Taska Nakon Sarim, where I found my love for teaching. I then moved to Doha where I worked in an international school as a Teaching Assistant for two and a half years.

Teaching and nurturing children is my main interest and gives me great joy. In my free time I read old novels and stories. I love playing the piano and listening to music. My hobbies are travelling, shopping and watching movies.

I am married with a child, she is 11 years old and is studying in Doha.

I would like to gain the experience of working with the best people involved in the education of young minds and to learn more about the modern education system applied by this esteemed school. This would be an invaluable experience for me.
