I was born in a small town called Oldham in Manchester, UK. I completed my BA in English Literature at The University of Sheffield and my PGCE at Sheffield Hallam University. After graduating, I returned to Oldham to teach at the high school I attended as a teenager. Working in the school and community I grew up in was a unique and rewarding experience.
There’s nothing I love more than English Literature and therefore, in 2016 I returned to The University of Sheffield to complete an MA in English Literature; I graduated First Division. In the same year, my husband and I decided to move to Qatar and have never looked back since! Although he’s working in the UK right now, he will be returning to Qatar soon. I have taught in Doha for 5 years. At my last two schools, I was Head of Department and then KS3 Co-Ordinator, respectively.
My hobbies include playing sports and staying active by running, swimming, and dancing. I also enjoy writing poetry and short stories, some of which have been published in literary magazines in the UK.
My aim at Oryx is to build a love for reading and writing. The beauty of studying English is that no matter what your interests are, there is always something you will enjoy reading or writing about!
