We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced IT Network Administrator to join our team to help take the school on to the next stage of our development.

Orbital Education own and operate a growing group of international schools across the globe that cater for students between the ages of 3 and 18 years and specialise in delivering the English National Curriculum, enhanced to meet the needs of an internationally diverse student population.

The school incorporates state of the art science laboratories, modern art and music studios, a fully equipped medical clinic, swimming pools, sporting fields and courts, an 8-lane running track and a 500 seat auditorium, among a host of other amazing facilities.

About the Role

The role is to start from December 2019 or as soon as possible thereafter. The purpose is to strategically manage the development and maintenance of an efficient data and voice ICT infrastructure and provide a high standard of technical support for the ICT infrastructure operations of the school and be the first point of contact for all ICT issues for pupils and staff. You will ensure the schools ICT functions work efficiently and effectively to meet the needs of the school and its users and be line manager to the two technicians.

Person Specification

You will be a network manager with wide ranging experience and will have a good working knowledge of a variety of technologies.

You will have an excellent track record in managing a successful IT team and whilst knowledge of the educational system is useful, a willingness to learn about this specialist field is more important.

In particular, candidates should meet the following technical profile:

  • Suitable ICT qualifications to degree level and/or previous experience in developing and maintaining an ICT network service
  • Awareness of management / information systems such as iSAMS
  • A competent knowledge and understanding of Microsoft/ Windows based ICT Networks having in depth knowledge of Windows client/server operating systems (server and desktop) and architecture.
  • Good technical ability and the necessary skills to solve ICT hardware and software problems
  • Ability to interpret and analyse data and act upon the information
  • Ability to analyse issues, identify solutions leading to planning strategically and working to deadlines
  • Strong organisational skills to prioritize work and manage time effectively particularly under pressure
  • Knowledge and understanding to fully manage the following technical solutions:
    • Cisco Switches
    • Gsuite or Office 365
    • a UTM style firewall solution
    • a centralised wifi solution
    • a centralised or externally hosted telephony solution
    • a centralised backup solution

In addition, the personal qualities we are looking for include:

  • Proactive, enthusiastic, ambitious and energetic person
  • Accurate & efficient and able to communicate with a wide range of people (eg. staff, students and suppliers)
  • Willing and able to tackle and quickly learn a variety of tasks within the school’s ICT environment
  • Able to work as part of a team
  • Able to work well under pressure
  • Experience of working in the GCC and an understanding of Islam and Arab culture
  • Good written and spoken English, with the ability to communicate clearly
  • Flexibility to work outside of office hours
