The auditorium at Oryx International School was the setting for an exceptional day in late May, as we hosted two unforgettable events for our school community: the emotional Sixth Form Graduation Ceremony for the Class of 2025 and the special Academic Prize Giving Celebration.

🎓 Graduating Class of 2025: A Farewell Filled with Pride and Hope

With great enthusiasm and emotion, the Oryx International School community came together to celebrate the graduation of Year 13 and some Year 12 students, marking the end of a vital chapter in their academic and personal development.

The ceremony began with the National Anthem of Qatar, followed by a recitation from the Qur'an by Muhammad A, Head Boy 2024/25. Executive Principal Mr. Derek Laidlaw delivered the official welcome, acknowledging the effort, resilience, and commitment shown by this cohort throughout their school journey.

The programme featured remarkable musical performances, including a moving rendition of “Lamentos do Morro” by Pietra K S, which captivated the audience with its artistic sensitivity. One of the most anticipated moments was the speech offered by Mr. Kevin McNeany, Chairman of Orbital Education, who offered inspiring, imaginative and encouraging words to the graduates as they embark on their next chapter.

After the presentation of academic awards by Mr. Laidlaw, the atmosphere became even more emotional with a heartfelt performance of “Habibi” by Fernando Sebastian T S.

Mr. Antonio Schulthess, Chief People Officer at Qatar Airways and Chair of the School Board, then delivered a motivating speech before officially presenting the graduates with their formal Graduation certificates.

The event concluded with farewell speeches by Muhammad A and Pashmin T, Head Boy and Head Girl, who proudly represented their peers and shared an emotional and reflective final message.

A catered reception and photo session brought the celebration to a joyful and grateful close, as well as offered souvenirs of the hallmark event, which we are sure the graduates and their families will treasure for years to come.

Our heartfelt congratulations to each of you, we look forward to staying in touch with you all, through the Oryx Alumni Community, and welcoming you back through engaging events, such as Oryx Alumni Connect, Oryx Fair and future Alumni Reunions!

🏅 Prize Giving Celebration: Recognising Excellence and Effort

Earlier this month, the annual Oryx Prize Giving Celebration took place. This is an opportunity for us to honour our students whom have shown outstanding academic achievement across Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4, and Key Stage 5, as well as highlight those receiving special awards for leadership, values, and exceptional contributions to school life.

The celebration began with the Qatari National Anthem and a warm welcome from Mr. Derek Laidlaw, who praised the academic dedication of our students and highlighted the essential support of their families and teachers.

The event was elevated by two stunning musical performances. Taleen S delivered a powerful and emotional rendition of “Girls” by Rachel Platten, while Egor K gave a sublime performance of the classical piece “Fantasia” in D minor, captivating everyone present.

The awards ceremony was a true tribute to the talent, perseverance, and passion for learning that define our students. Vice Principal Ms. Andrea Smith closed the event with an inspiring speech that reaffirmed Oryx International School’s ongoing commitment to educational excellence.

Both ceremonies were a reflection of the vibrant spirit, diversity, and top tier academic standards that distinguish our institution.
