Research - and experience - tells us that when children eat well, they learn well, which is why we place such emphasis on this complementary part of our student’s school experience.
As such, we are proud to work with Newrest Gulf, who are the school’s chosen catering provider and who offer a variety of nutritious and well-balanced menu items, to satisfy even the pickiest of eaters!

Catering Provisions per Year Group / Key Stage
Students in EYFS & Key Stage 1 have the option to bring in packed lunches and snacks from home to eat during their school day, or have he ability to also access our Classroom Catering Delivery Service from Newrest Gulf Catering.
Please note: we are a Nut Free School, so any packed lunch meals should not include nuts or products containing nuts (including Nutella) to ensure a safe environment for our all colleagues.
Introducing the Madeleine Happy Meal Box; Fresh, Nutritious Lunches Delivered to the Classroom!
We’re excited to launch a brand-new lunchtime experience for our youngest learners at Oryx International School! In partnership with Newrest Gulf Catering, we’re now offering warm, wholesome meals for all students in EYFS and Key Stage 1 (FS1 to Year 2), delivered directly to their classrooms as part of our innovative Classroom Delivery Service.
From October 2025, Students in FS1 to Year 2 can enjoy a delicious, nutritious Madeleine Happy Meal Box, thoughtfully prepared to support their growth and learning.

- Place Your Order: Via the Newrest Gulf Catering Portal Please Note Orders must be submitted by 3 PM on the last working day before delivery.
- Make Payment: Payments are made in advance via visiting the New Rest Kiosk in the Main School Reception area. We are currently working on an online payment option, which we hope to have finalised shortly. (Please note Happy Meals are 19 QAR per meal or if preferred a larger portion size you can opt for this at 22 QAR)
- Enjoy: Your child receives their warm meal at school
Students in Key Stage 2 have the option to bring in packed lunches and snacks from home to eat during their school day, or have the ability to also access our onsite lunchtime catering services from Newrest Gulf Catering.
Lunchtime Just Got More Exciting for Years 3–6!
We're delighted to share that students in Years 3 to 6 now have access to our vibrant school canteen during lunchtime, giving them the chance to enjoy a wide selection of hot and cold nutritious meals every day!
From hearty favourites to lighter bites, there's something for every appetite - with menus rotating every two weeks to keep things fresh, balanced, and exciting!
What About Breaktime?
For morning break, we ask that parents pack a small, healthy snack box for their children to enjoy in the classroom — a quick energy boost to keep them fuelled and focused through the day.
Please note: we are a Nut Free School, so any packed lunch meals should not include nuts or products containing nuts (including Nutella) to ensure a safe environment for our all colleagues.
How Does the Canteen Work?
To access school lunches, each child will need their own Canteen Card. Here's how it works:
- Get Your Canteen Card – Available for each child at the Newrest Gulf Catering Top-Up Point in the main school Reception.
- Top It Up - Add funds via card or cash by visiting the Newrest Gulf Catering Kiosk in the Main School Reception area. We are currently working on an online payment option, which we hope to have finalised shortly.
- Ready to Dine – Your child can then make healthy lunchtime choices from the canteen (located on the ground floor).
A representative from Newrest Gulf Catering will be in the School Reception Area at the following times for parents/students to obtain their Lunch Cards and/or to re-charge them:
Sunday - Thursday | 7.00am – 9.00am (Morning) |
Sunday - Thursday | 1.00pm – 3.00pm (Afternoon) |
Please Note:
· There is a 20 QAR replacement Fee for any lost canteen cards
- Students cannot pay for lunch with cash, they can only use the canteen card.
- Should a student forget his/her lunch or run out of funds, an emergency card is held with a member of SLT on duty in the canteen, and the child can use this to pay for their meal. Receipts will be issued and charged back to the parent.
- The last time to order is 3:00pm on the previous working day (orders after this will not be processed for the next day).
Giving your child a Canteen Card empowers them to make smart, balanced food choices while enjoying a bit of independence - all within a safe, supervised, and health-conscious environment.

As students enter the Secondary school, they not only get access to our vibrant school canteen during lunchtime, but they also have the luxury to attend during break times.
Whether they want to grab a quick bite at the Grab and Go Kiosk or enjoy a more relaxed meal from the main service desk, Secondary Students gain access to a full wrap-around catering provision provide by Newrest Gulf Catering, giving them the chance to enjoy a wide selection of hot and cold nutritious meals and snacks every day!
Our lunchtime menus rotate every two weeks to keep things fresh, balanced, and exciting!

Guidance on Home-Packed Snacks and Lunches
All students are welcome to bring in their own healthy snacks to enjoy at break and lunch time.
For the safety of our students, and staff we operate a strict 'no nuts' policy within the school.
Suitable snack:
sandwiches, cubes of cheese, fruit, cereal bars, savoury biscuits, small pieces of cooked meat, chopped carrots/cucumber/cherry tomatoes, small plain cake, small tubs of yoghurt (in cooler weather), juice or water.
Please refrain from the following:
sweets (candy) or chocolate; nuts (because of allergies of other students); food that needs to be reheated or refrigerated; canned or glass bottled drinks; sugary or energy drinks.
We also ask students to bring with them a water bottle, flask or sealable cup (no glass please) labelled with their name.
Birthday Party Celebrations & Food
Whilst we appreciate it is lovely to celebrate birthdays, we do not distribute party bags, gifts cake or food due to some students suffering from allergies or intolerances. We ask you to please respect this policy and not to send these items into school.
Please be assured that f you wish, particularly in Primary School, your child’s birthday can be celebrated with their peers in class. Please do drop a note to the Class Teacher in this regard via Class Dojo.
