On Tuesday, January 28th, the auditorium of Oryx International School was filled with music, talent, and excitement as we celebrated our Primary Winter Concert. Students from various year groups showcased a wide range of performances, demonstrating their artistic skills in singing, dancing, and instrumental execution.
The evening was beautifully curated by the Primary school Head Boy and Head Girl and began with a performance by the Mass Choir, who enthusiastically sang “We’re Gonna Make Music For You!” (lyrics by Don Besig and Nancy Price; music by Don Besig). Next, the Year 2, 3, and 4 Choir delighted the audience with “Jazzy Muffin Man” and the unforgettable “Do Re Mi” by Rodgers and Hammerstein.
Individual and small group performances also created memorable moments:
- Aaradhaya shone with her dance to “Let It Go” from Frozen.
- The Year 2 and 6 Instrumental Group performed “Edelweiss” by Rodgers and Hammerstein.
- Amaya captivated the audience with her dance to “Lush Life” (By Zara), while vocals were accompanied by Keisha and Aarohi.
- Keisha and Natalia impressed us with “Just Can’t Wait to Be King” from The Lion King.
- The Year 5 Instrumental Group presented “Fandango” (based on Recorder from the Beginning) and “Karen’s Waltz”.
- Lorena moved the audience with “Waiting on a Miracle” from Encanto.
- Justin performed two highly challenging pieces: “Ticklin’ Toes” by F.B. Price and “Presto” from Sonata No. 6 in C Minor by G.B. Pescetti.
Later, the Year 5 and 6 Choir continued the evening with “Lightning!” (Greg Gilpin) and “Riversong” (Andy Beck).
To conclude this wonderful concert, the Mass Choir returned to the stage with the inspiring “Always Sing Your Song” (Andy Beck) and “Power in Me” (Rebecca Lawrence), leaving everyone with a message of unity and collective strength.
Mr Tony Williams, our Head of Primary, thanked the families, students, tutors, and school staff who contributed to the success of the evening. It was a gathering filled with harmony, enthusiasm, and teamwork, reflecting the great effort of our students and the commitment of all the staff involved.
We would like to extend our warm thanks and sincerest congratulations to all the participants and attendees for making this unforgettable Primary Winter Concert at Oryx International School! A particular shout out to our incredibly talented Music Teachers, Mr Pickering, Mrs Navarro & Miss Salazar for your unwavering dedication, pure and infectious enthusiasm and energy and musical spirit!
We look forward to sharing more moments filled with music and the creative arts at future events.
