Oryx International School, Year 11, students have recorded an outstanding set of I/GCSE results awarded by the UK examining authority, Pearson Edexcel. This is the second cohort of students who have been presented for external qualifications and the results awarded represent a significant enhancement on last year’s excellent results, both in terms of numbers of candidates and a disproportionate and increased trajectory towards the very highest grades.

51% of awards achieved the highest grades of 9, 8 and 7 (equivalent to A*/A) and 94% of awards were at grades 9 – 4 (equivalent to A* - C). An overall award rate of 99.75% represents a significant achievement for the students and the school.

This year’s examinations were completed under a strict series of measures applied by Pearson Edexcel to accommodate the Covid-19 pandemic and applied to every school entering candidates for UK qualifications from across the world.

Executive Principal, Mr. Derek Laidlaw commented “Congratulations to all our I/GCSE students, we are absolutely delighted with the achievements of our students in their I/GCSE examinations. Throughout the past two years, they and their teachers have demonstrated, determination, resilience, adaptability and an outstanding, positive attitude to overcome all the challenges we faced.”

Mr. Ken Haggarty added that: “We are also delighted that our results continue to improve due to the dedication, cooperation and support shown by our school community. We congratulate and celebrate all the individual and collective successes.”

Congratulations Year 11, we look forward to you joining us in Year 12 to start your AS Levels.
