Qatar Airways and Oryx International School in collaboration with Qatar Charity donate supplies to Pakistani flood victims
The recent torrential monsoon rains in Pakistan caused severe flooding, washing away villages and leaving millions of people, including up to 3.4 million children in need of assistance. The scale of the devastation and damage to homes, water systems, schools and public health facilities was revealed when the waters receded.
Qatar Airways in its drive to support the victims of the floods in Pakistan reached out to its staff and the Oryx International School community came together to assist. Our parents collected two full trucks of aid including food, clothes, toys, blankets and household items. These items have now been transported by Qatar Airways in collaboration with Qatar Charity to Pakistan and will be distributed to those in need.
Mr. Faisal Karamat, Vice President Cargo Customer Experience and Mr. Camille Dirani, Manager Cargo Logistics & Government Relations, accepted the donations from Mr. Derek Laidlaw, Executive Principal Oryx International School, and were delighted at the response and generosity of our parents.
Mr. Laidlaw said, "Our parents and staff at Oryx International School are always willing to assist in every way they possibly can, we believe it is important to support the victims that have been affected by this devastating flood and to show our students the importance of compassion and respect, two of our five school values."
Thank you to all our parents and staff who donated so generously.
