Ashleigh Dobinson

Assistant Principal - Curriculum, Sustainability, Y5/6

I studied a Masters of Arts in Education at The University of Aberdeen, not far from my hometown in Scotland. I have extensive experience teaching across Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2.

I began teaching at Oryx International in 2018, where I progressed into Middle Leadership, as the Year Group Leader for Years 3 and 5, and then became the Phase Leader for Years 2-4. Having been at Oryx since the opening of the new campus, I feel like an integral part of the Oryx community and feel privileged to teach students from such diverse countries and cultures.

Sustainability is a passion of mine that I put into practice in my own life. I will continue to lead the Eco-Warriors (whole school) to achieve the Eco School Award this year. I thrive to inspire and educate children on how to look after our planet, by shaping twenty-first-century skills, competencies and mindsets in today's and the future's global citizens.

Promoting and modelling our school values here at Oryx is of great importance. As a Black Belt in Tae Kwon-Do, I understand how values can build and develop personalities, attitudes and overall character. The tenets of Tae Kwon-Do are instilled within me to this day and I believe that our values, mission and vision will have the same impact on our students.

Before I left Scotland, I was a TKD instructor, I like to stay active and still enjoy training as a hobby.

As a proud revert to Islam, my free time is spent studying the Quran and I'm also learning spoken Arabic.
