I was born in Colombo, Sri Lanka. However, I am a true expat and was raised around the world. I traveled with my father who was a Diplomatic Officer and lived in India, Belgium, and the United States of America. After finishing my secondary studies in Belgium at the International School of Brussels, I completed my degree in Chemistry and Engineering at Washington & Lee University in Lexington, Virginia. I then enrolled at Virginia Tech, where I had the opportunity to work as a Graduate Teaching Assistant.
I started my teaching career at Lowcountry Preparatory School in the lovely seaside town of Pawleys Island in South Carolina. At LowCountry Prep I taught Chemistry, Physics, Physical Science, and Environmental Studies. It was a wonderful experience working with students in a small, close-knit environment.
I moved to Qatar in 2014 to teach Physics at a British curriculum school, where I gained invaluable experience and taught a remarkable group of students over the last seven years.
I, along with my wife Sachini and our 3-year-old son, have enjoyed our time in Doha and look forward to being part of the OIS family. I hope to bring my experience and enthusiasm for science to the students at Oryx. I would like to build on the great work done by my colleagues and further enhance the science taught here. I hope to inspire the next generation of scientists and engineers who are curious about their world around them and create well learned, as well as global citizens of the world.
