At Oryx International School, our expectation is that attendance will not fall below 95% in order for students to take full advantage of the educational opportunities available to them.
Drop-Off and Registration
Registration begins at 7:15am. The morning drop-off windowis 6:50am to 7:15am. We kindly ask all parents to adhere to these timings to ensure a smooth and safe start to the school day.
Students arriving after 07:25am must report to School Reception via Security Gate 2 to be signed in, ensuring that all arrivals are recorded for safeguarding purposes.
Please note the speed limit on campus is 20km/h at all times.
End of School Day and Pick-Up Times
The school day ends at 14:00.
- Regular pick-up: 14:00 – 14:15 (latest)
- After School Activities (ASAs): finish at 15:00, with pick-up required by 15:05.
We kindly ask all parents and guardians to ensure children are collected promptly at the end of the school day or after their ASA session.
Please note that staff are not available to supervise students outside of these times.
Late Arrival Procedure
If a student arrives after 07:25am, they will be marked as late and must report to Reception via Gate 2.
All late arrivals will be signed in to ensure accurate attendance records and to maintain our Fire and Safety Register.
Parents may drop their child at the security gate, where a member of staff will escort them safely to Reception.
Campus Safety and Arrival Guidance
For the safety of all members of our school community, we ask parents, guardians, and students to follow the instructions provided by our Security Team and Senior Leadership Team at all times.
When using the pedestrian crossing, please only cross when the pedestrian signal is green and ensure vehicles have come to a complete stop before stepping off the pavement. Crossing should only take place at designated crossing points.
Reception and Year 1 parents may accompany their children to and from the dedicated entrance at Gate 3.
Absence and Attendance Procedures
If your child is sick or unable to attend school, please follow the steps below:
- Notify the school by emailing or calling Reception at reception@oryxschool.qa or +974 4036 0063.
- Inform your child’s teacher via Class Dojo (Primary) or Form Tutor email (Secondary).
- Please include the reason for absence to ensure accurate attendance records. Any unexplained absence will be recorded as unauthorised.
Medical Appointments or Early Pick-Up
If your child needs to leave school during the day (e.g. for a medical appointment), please inform both Reception and your child’s teacher at least one day in advance where possible or before 11:45am. This allows staff to prepare and ensure your child is sent to the reception for collection.
Term-Time Absence
Requests for absence during term time should only be made in exceptional circumstances and are not automatically authorised. All requests must be made in writing to the Vice Principal via reception@oryxschool.qa, in line with the School Attendance Policy.
Safeguarding and Attendance Monitoring
If a child is not marked present and no reason has been provided, parents will receive an automated SMS as part of our safeguarding procedures. Please respond promptly and inform Reception so the register can be updated accordingly.
