Head of Modern Foreign Languages

I was born in Tortola, in the British Virgin Islands but grew up in Ireland.

I started my education at University College Cork in Ireland, where I studied a degree in Commerce and French, spending my third year in Strasbourg in East France. I then spent time in France studying a Masters in French Literature at Université Rennes II, Haute Bretagne as well as doing some work. I finally moved home to study a Master of Education back at University College Cork, teaching in Irish schools over these two years.

I have spent the last three years teaching French and Business Studies to students at Gunnersbury Catholic School in West London in the United Kingdom.

I come from a big Irish family, there are seven of us in total: my mother, my father, my three brothers including my twin, and my sister.

My main interests in life are literature, music and art. In my personal life, the most exciting things are so often hearing a new song, visiting a new museum or discovering alternative ways of thinking. I’m always filled with enthusiasm by such experiences and it’s this enthusiasm for discovery that I then try to bring to my teaching.

At Oryx, I aim to provide an engaging French education to all students, showing students the exciting worlds into which the French language can lead. This can involve learning through games, as well as introducing students to authentic sources of French language and culture. I also believe in high standards and it is important to me that each student has the opportunity to reach his or her individual potential. I would also like to introduce the school to French culture and traditions as best I can.
