Head of Primary
I completed my degree and teaching qualifications in Plymouth, South-West England and have spent the last 15 years as a Primary Headteacher. My most recent position has been to establish and grow a brand new three form entry school. Growing a new school is such an exciting opportunity and I am delighted that I will be taking up the position of Head of Primary at Oryx International School in September. I am excited at the prospect of working in an international school, supporting the whole team to further develop Oryx into a school that stands out as ‘five star’ within the Doha community.

I am originally from West Lothian, Scotland, although I have been teaching internationally for over 30 years. My teaching career started in the North East of Scotland with posts teaching music at Arbroath High School and Montrose Academy. I have subsequently taught for 19 years in the Gulf, including Senior Leadership in Kuwait and Bahrain (twice). I have also taught in international schools in Hong Kong and Bangkok. I recently completed an MBA in Educational Leadership (International) from Keele University.My wife, Bernadette, and I have four children. Our two eldest sons are in the UK. One has completed his MSc in Aerospace Engineering and is working as a consultant engineer in the aerospace industry. The other is studying Law at Bristol University. Our two younger children will be joining us in Doha.
