Term 2 was filled with exciting sports fixtures across the age groups!

QUESS and QIS Basketball Tournaments

QUESS U12 Girls Basketball

The team were phenomenal in their efforts and secured two wins in their first two matches against GEMS and DESS. Overall placing 3rd in the tournament at Hamilton.

QUESS U12 Boys Basketball

Ten teams participated In the first round, Oryx won over PHES, in the 2nd & 3rd rounds, and lost to PSI and DBW in the final round. The team then faced the highly skilled U12 team from BLYTH Academy and lost. Overall, it was a great afternoon that ended with smiles and a motivation to improve.

QIS U14 Basketball Boys

The team played extremely well winning one match and losing four matches, and are motivated to improve their game.

Swiss U16 Basketball League

Congratulations to Shimona and Inaya who were awarded the player of the tournament for the first two games of the Swiss Basketball League. Very deserved awards for the strong performances this past two weeks and we are very proud of them.

Football

Years 3&4 Girls Football at Hamilton International School

  • Year 3 blitzed through the group just losing in the semi-final against Hamilton. The girls recovered to win the 3rd and 4th play-offs on penalties to claim bronze.
  • Year 4 started well with two draws and a win, a closely fought semi-final ended in defeat. The girls ended the day in 4th place after some strong performances.

Years 5&6 Girls Football at Hamilton International School

  • Year 5 started off strongly with two draws and a win, unfortunately, the girls lost out on placing in the quarterfinals due to the goals-scored rule.
  • Year 6 had two wins and a draw, winning the group with 10 points. A penalty shootout in the semi-finals saw the team beat Parkhouse to advance to the finals. In a tense final they edged out Hamilton 1-0, to win the gold medal!

U14 Football Boys at Oryx International School

A home game saw the Oryx team win 7-2 against Mesaieed. This places them at the top of the league for the Spring Cup!

U19 Football Boys at Oryx International School

The Oryx Team played a home game against Blythe Academy winning 2-0. Both goals were scored by Jan with assists from both Ibrahim and Ted. Other player mentions go to Julian, Sean, and Ashiq

QPPSA Football

QPPSA Football Boys Year3

With nine teams playing against each other, the Oryx boy's team played well with three wins out of four games finishing in third place overall with King's College winning the tournament.

QPPSA Football Boys Year 4

The Year 4 boys were confronted by very tough opposition within their group. They won 1 match and narrowly lost 3 others. The overall winners for the Year 4 group were Qatar Academy.

QPPSA Football Boys Years 5&6

Year 6 finished 3rd in their group, while the Year 5 boys progressed all the way to the final where they narrowly lost to King's College.

Well done to all the year groups for their hard work and gameplay!

The girls came third overall in their group but did not progress through to the semi-finals.

U16 Netball

The girls came third overall in their group and were unlucky not to progress to the semi-finals due to the points difference.

Athletics at Hamilton International School

Athletics Years 3&4

The competition consisted of a variety of events including the long jump, high jump, overarm throw, and various individual and team running races.  The Oryx students did very well in the events, winning medals and coming in third place overall.

Athletics Years 5&6

some fantastic individual performances from the children particularly in the 600m, 75m sprint, and the high jump. Overall Oryx finished in 3rd position.

Cross country at Dukhan

U12, U13, U14, U16, U19 Girls & Boys Athletics
A harsh westerly wind blew making the course tough over the 2km and 4km races. Two of our girls, Kosta and Natalya, in the U14 age group achieved silver and bronze places in the race.

Gymnastics

KS1 & KS2 Gymnastics

Our brilliant KS1&2 students performed very well during their gymnastics assessment at the 'Qatar Gymnastic Centre'. The assessment was formal and we are still waiting for the results.  Well done Skanda, Aadam, Matteo, Jan and Lucas for your efforts. We will publish the results when we receive them.

Gymnastics Primary

Mrs. Kelly coordinated the primary gymnastics team for both girls and boys in Level 1 and girls only in Level 2, and competed in the qualifying rounds at the Qatar Gymnastics Federation. The teams competed in a floor routine and unaccompanied vault. 

Level 1 girls came 3rd in floor and vault and now qualify for the final.

Two reserve positions were given: first for Matteo (YR6) for the individual all-round competition and Level 1 Almudena (YR5) is reserve for the floor competition.
