Dear Parents,
It has been a wonderful start to the new academic year at Oryx. We have welcomed many new students, their families and staff to join the Oryx team. Thank you to the whole school community for making all the new staff and students feel so settled.
It was a pleasure to meet so many of the new parents at the various meetings that have taken place over the last week.
Please find below the Head of Primary presentation.
Keeping parents informed
All children have received their planners this week. The planners contain lots of information to support the learning journey. Please join class Dojo and also log in to the class portal via the school website. Timetables will be finalised by the end of the week.
Communication can only be effective if it is two way. Parents can contact their class teacher via Dojo, email and through the planners.
Please ensure reception are contacted if your child is poorly or if there are changes in circumstances that will affect bus transportation and/or after school care.
Uniform
As parents are aware, there have been slight changes to uniform expectations. All children should come dressed to school looking smart and in the correct school uniform as per the school policy.
- Shirts tucked in
- Black leather shoes
- One pair of stud earrings
- Headbands in the school colour
If children are not dressed appropriately, as per school policy, a note will be sent home.
Following feedback from parents and timetable constraints, there will be amendments in place from Sunday 31st August.
If a child has PE (including swimming) they can come dressed to school in their PE kits. Children in Y5 & Y6 must wear black tracksuit trousers to and from school. In the event of a school event or class assembly, children should come dressed in uniform even if it is their PE day.
School swimming costumes ( for Years 5&6) are currently not available, from the uniform shop, until the end of September. All swimming costumes should be modest. Bikinis are not appropriate in school.
Growth Mindset
The children may come home and talk to you about 'Growth Mindset' and the power of “yet”. This term we are encouraging our children to make mistakes as this is part of the learning process.
Our value this term is respect
The value of respect will be promoted throughout the school day. In assembly, we have shared two videos you may like to watch at home with your children.
Kind regards,
