In 1902 author Rudyard Kipling wrote a collection of origin stories - Just So Stories for Little Children, considered a classic of children's literature, the book is among Kipling's best known works.
He started working on the book by telling the first three chapters as bedtime stories to his daughter Josephine, she insisted that they be told "just so" (exactly in the words she was used to) or she would complain. These stories describe how one animal or another acquired its most distinctive features, such as how the elephant got its trunk. These stories have appeared in a variety of adaptations including a musical and animated films.
Our Year 1 students received tickets to watch a version of this play at the Qatar National Theatre and enjoyed all the stories told about the various animals.
