Stunning, amazing, astounding....These are the adjectives which have been used over the past two weeks whilst I was interviewing candidates who were being escorted through the school!

Standing on the stage of our auditorium this term for our whole school assembly felt like a privilege and something I had to honour via the choice of what theme I wanted to present to our Secondary students.

Ambition, drive and humility were the key themes as I spoke about people who made a difference to our world. From Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi to Malala Yousafzai and Steve Jobs I tried to convey how, though they did not have a privileged education, they stood for their ideas, they believed in something so much that there were no barriers that they could not overcome.

Oryx International School is a shining icon and the buildings and facilities are truly five-star, but how do we as staff, students and parents make sure that the heart of Oryx grows into what we all truly believe in -a community, a place you feel safe, a place where you can achieve your dreams!

Setting up our Head of House, Deputy House Captain this term and a new student council is, I truly believe a key in achieving this goal. Listening to the murmurs, shouts, laughs or maybe cries is our responsibility as a community to make sure we are helping our students into achieving their aspirations.
