With less than two weeks left of school, we are in full swing with our end of term assessments, after school activities, planning for next term and of course final preparations for our Winter Fair on Saturday 15th December. With 100 stalls and external vendors coming to our event, I am extremely pleased with the support we have received from the local community. I am looking forward to seeing as many of you as possible on Saturday to ensure our first school community event is a great success as we celebrate Qatar National Day and the end of term.
NB: Student end of term reports are being issued and you should have met with your class teacher (in Primary) and form tutor (in Secondary).
In the coming weeks we will be receiving a visit from the Council of International Schools (CIS) as part of our membership accreditation, a visit from the Ministry to review a selection of our documentation and an audit from Ernst & Young. These are all part of the rigorous process Orbital Education adopts to ensure that we are providing the best quality educational experience for our students and staff as well as adhering to the highest international standards in all areas of our provision.
As part of our ongoing improvements in safeguarding, I am delighted with the response and cooperation from parents and students regarding punctuality at drop off time. This is allowing us to become more efficient registering our students’attendance in the mornings. The school day starts at07.30 and anyone arriving after that time is late for school and must sign in at the school office.
One area where we would like to improve further is in afternoon pick up from school, especially after 15.00 As you know, school activities end at 15.00 and parents are asked to be punctual in collecting their children from school. Children enrolled in paid activities after school, up to and including 16.00, should make their own arrangements for supervision and collection as you would in any other external activity out of school.
Please note that after school activities provided by the school will cease on Thursday 13th December and recommence the week beginning Sunday 13th January. Paid activities will continue as per the organisers’ arrangements.
The school will close for holidays at 14.00 on THURSDAY 20th DECEMBER* and re-open at 07.10 on SUNDAY 6th JANUARY 2019. During this time, the school office will remain open between the hours of 08.00 and 14.00
* After school care will NOT operate on Thursday 20th DECEMBER, all children should be collected at 14.00
